Matthew Herbert presents One Pig live at Berghain

Matthew Herbert is back with the final part of his album trilogy One and an accompanying, unique performance at the Berlin-based club Berghain on 17th November.

With One One, the first out of three albums, Herbert released a spherical singer-songwriter album whereas part two, One Club, focused on the live aspects of his performance at Robert Johnson, a club in Offenbach. The third part, One Pig (release date: 10th October), documents “a farm animal’s life from birth to plate”. From the first sounds at birth to its consumption, Herbert was on location to record every detail.

Animal rights group PETA criticised Herbert’s album efforts condemning his way of turning a pig’s suffering into entertainment. Herbert on the other hand responded: “My motivation was to acknowledge the reality of what it is to eat meat. And for me the part of the problem we have in our society is a huge disconnect between what we do and the consequences of our actions.”

Indeed, his new album occupies a grey area which makes it all the more exciting. You will get the opportunity to witness Matthew Herbert’s One Pig live on 17th November at Berghain, Berlin.
